Scott started drilling in 1990 at Aqua Drilling & Grouting under the guidance of his father Graeme Barnes.

Scott and his brother grew Aqua Drilling & Grouting from 1 rig to 11 rigs. In 2008, Aqua Drilling & Grouting was purchased by Boart Longyear. Scott continued working at Boart Longyear, and assisted the company in expanding its Environmental and Infrastructure sonic division with an additional 7 sonic drill rigs, until Boart closed its Victorian division in late 2012.

Scott’s role at Star Drilling utilises his extensive experience in providing technical drilling advice and business development and management. Scott holds Class 3 Drillers Licenses in every state and territory in Australia.

Ron has over 20 years’ experience in safety and environmental management systems and employee training. He previously worked in small and medium sized businesses as a safety manager and as an Inspector with WorkSafe Victoria. Ron joined Boart Longyear in late 2008 and integrated Aqua Drilling & Grouting safety system into Boart Longyears’ safety & training management systems.

Ron’s role at Star Drilling is focused on implementing cost effective management systems to streamline the business’ administration and provide technical safety and environmental management advice.

Ron holds a degree in Science, postgraduate degrees in Risk Management and Occupational Hygiene, and a Certificate IV in Environmental Management.

Simon has been working in the drilling industry since 1997.

He worked as a driller for Aqua Drilling until its sale to Boart Longyear in 2008, where he was promoted to Project Manager. While at Boart Simon gained valuable experience in sonic drilling technologies and management of large and small drilling programs.

Following the closure of Boart Longyear’s Victorian division, Simon joined Scott and Ron in starting Star Drilling. Simon’s role at Star Drilling is focused on ensuring that drilling programs are executed to the highest standard.

Simon holds a Diploma of Drilling Operations and holds a class 2 Driller’s Licence in every Australian state and territory.
