Star Drilling undertook this multiple rig program using both conventional geotechnical methods and sonic drilling to investigate the water side of the Hume Weir Earthen Wall.
The wall had up to 30 m of boulders\riprap stacked on the outside.
Once we drilled through the boulders, we then drilled dry through the earth structure as pressurised fluids can damage dam walls.
We installed an array of VWPs to measure pressure in the wall.
We also predrilled the riprap boulders so a CPT rig could probe the earth structure.
